You’ve tried sparkling wine from England, but have you ever tried an English sparkling red? This eye-opening traditional method bubbly is from the Darley family’s 2.6 hectare vineyard near Newbury in Berkshire. Made with 100% Rondo, this limited production wine is one of only 340 bottles made in 2015 and has been made under the hand of esteemed winemaker Emma Rice, the first female winemaker to garner UKVA Winemaker of the Year (twice!)

Serving Suggestions

Drink this chilled and serve in a sparkling wine flute or coupe. Ideal as a conversation opener as you prep a barbecue while nibbling on charcuterie and chorizo or sausages straight from the grill, or with heartier dishes like lamb curry, moussaka or lasagna. If you want to try a festive wine cocktail with this, add a thin slice of orange, a pinch of cinnamon and a shot of bourbon as a sophisticated alternative to mulled wine.

Tasting Notes

Warming notes of blackcurrants, cranberry sauce and cinnamon with fresh pomegranate and garden herbs make this an inviting and appetising wine. On the palate, it is fresh, dry and aromatic with fine bubbles and a lingering finish. A really fun pour for the adventurous sparkling wine drinker!
